We’ve all been there: you start to prepare yourself for smoking marijuana a nice, fat bowl and everything’s ready, except you’ve forgotten to clean your smoking instrument. Cleaning bongs, bowls or pipes is often seen as an afterthought, but having a clean one really is important if you want a nice, smooth smoking experience – also, if you have friends over, nobody wants to take a hit from your gross, dirty bong. Here’s a pretty easy method to doing so:
The first step to cleaning out your cannabis device is to soak it in warm water and soap, ideally the same soap you use to wash your dishes. This is because this type of soap is chemically engineered to break up food and other materials from plates and glassware, which makes it perfect to use on a bong, something you know will be touching your mouth. After you’ve soaked it for about a half hour, you’re ready to move on to the next step.
The next thing you should do is to place your bowl or pipe in a re-sealable Ziploc bag and pour rubbing alcohol into it, making sure your device is totally covered. Once you’ve done this, just shake the bag! Repeat this process until the alcohol stops turning brown. You should then add some magnesium sulfate (if you have it to hand) which will help to clean up all the clogged resin in your bong. And after all of this, you’re done! Simply rinse off your smoking instrument, dry it, and have yourself a hit – you’ve earned it.
