CBD oil: benefits and uses

Cannabidiol is a very common natural remedy used in many places in order to treat illness and other common ailments. More generally known as CBD, it has helped hundreds of people all over the world and, unlike THC, it is not psychoactive and doesn't possess the same habit-forming properties.

This quality makes CBD a viable option for pain relief without inducing any mind-altering effects. The oil is made by extracting CBD from the plant and then diluting this with a carrier such as coconut oil. CBD oil is really taking off in the medical and wellness world, with some studies attributing it to helping treat a variety of illnesses, such as anxiety and epilepsy.

One of the pain benefits of CBD is its pain-relieving properties.

One of the pain benefits of CBD is its pain-relieving properties. The human body contains a specialized system called the endocannabinoid system, which is mostly involved in the regulation of appetite, pain, and sleep.

The body produces neurotransmitters that bind to receptors in this system, and CBD may help to reduce pain by impacting the activity of these receptors. There are many studies involving rats that seem to back this up.

For example, a study which took place in Brazil involved injecting rats with CBD and this study actually found that there was a reduced pain response to surgical incision. Another rat study also had these same positive results, finding that oral CBD treatment greatly reduced nerve pain and inflammation. There have, of course, been human studies too. These experiments have found that combinations of THC and CBD are incredibly effective in reducing the discomfort related to arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

Another benefit of CBD is its potential to reduce anxiety and depression in individuals.

Another benefit of CBD is its potential to reduce anxiety and depression in individuals. These illnesses are usually treated with pharmaceutical drugs such as beta-blockers, fluoxetine or sertraline. All of these drugs come with uncomfortable side-effects including drowsiness, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, and migraines. CBD oil is another effective method that could possibly treat anxiety and depression without these horrible side effects. In one study, a number of individuals with anxiety were given either 600mg of CBD or a placebo before the test which consisted of speaking to a crowd. The CBD group were found to have significantly less anxiety and discomfort during the test than the placebo control group. CBD has even been used to safely treat insomnia and anxiety in children with PTSD, as well as producing anti-psychotic effects and helping inhibit substance abuse in adults.

A less commonly known function of CBD is that it may be able to effectively reduce acne, a common skin condition. Based on recent scientific discoveries, CBD oil may help to treat acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to reduce sebum production. There haven’t been many studies on this, but there definitely should be in the future.

All in all, the benefits of CBD oil usage are vast and expansive. While they haven’t been explored to their fullest potential, we are getting there! The increased legalization of cannabis there is definitely hope that more research will be done in the field in the near future and hopefully many lives can be changed for the better, or even saved.
